Thank you Mohawk Flooring for sponsoring this post! We were Licensed to Spill whatever we wanted on your carpets at the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival!
It’s a well-known fact that kids are messy. Mine are definitely no different.
First solids, 2007
Messy is their middle name.
A Typical Day, 2009
But our focus as parents is to give our girls wonderful memories. I don’t want my girls to remember me as the mom who freaked out when they dropped something on the floor.
4th Birthday, 2011
I want to enjoy their time as little ones as well. I don’t want to be scrubbing (and feeling grumpy) as everyone else is having a good time.
A Typical Day, 2008
While I hope their messes will lessen over time, I definitely don’t want them feeling bad about their messes that are a part of being little.
A Typical Day (yesterday)
Yes, messes are part of being little. And this time of being little, it will pass so quickly. I have the type of mess in my home that is of the most blessed variety.
We had a blast at the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival at the Mohawk Flooring License To Spill this past weekend.
What kid wouldn’t love to squirt soy sauce (and red wine, and sports drinks) onto a brand new carpet?
What kid wouldn’t want to stomp squishy stuff into a brand new carpet?
How could any kid enjoy Top Chef Ryan Scott’s sloppy joes, without yummy gooey Mornay sauce, without getting it all over the place? And what mama can resist when your kids ask you to “make slobby joes like the chef did” at home?
Parents like me can rest a little easier if stains can come out easily, without having to rub and scrub, and even without chemicals. Here’s proof: Sophie is simply squirting the stain away with plain water. For super stubborn stains (like mustard, which if you think about it, is used to dye fabric) all you have to do is add a bit of your favorite dish soap to the water and it should come out fine.
And that stomped-in stain? Check out that clean strip down the middle.
Mohawk SmartStrand Carpet works like this: It has built-in stain protection in each fiber, so it will never wash away or become less effective over time. It’s not sprayed on, so you don’t have that slimy or crunchy feeling of other carpets with stain treatment on them. In fact, the carpeting that we got to touch at the event was super soft. Sarah compared it to her “soft blanky”, so that really means it’s soft! What I also love is that it is made from renewable resources.
Want your own Mohawk Carpet in your home? Enter to win a Mohawk SmartStrand 6x9’ Carpet Bound Rug. I would LOVE this for under our dining table, where most of our messes occur. We’ve been afraid to put a rug there because of the daily spills that happen in that spot, but I also long for a cozier feeling in the dining room as well as something to anchor our dining table in the space. If you’ve been looking for something similar, click the pic below to enter to win!
Visit Mohawk Flooring’s License To Spill page to see where their next Carpet Showdown will be held, or follow them on Facebook and Twitter. Thank you Mohawk for such a fun time, and for an excuse to walk down messy memory lane.
