So on a whim, I applied to the Sew It All TV’s “So You Think You Can Blog??” Casting Call. They asked applicants to propose a project that you can present in five minutes, and if you’re the winner of the casting call, you get to present the whole project on their show!
I proposed to demonstrate how to make the face of my clock pillow. And then I forgot all about applying for it!
Then I heard last week that I was one of five finalists picked to do the five-minute demo at the Sewing and Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, WA next month.
Wait. What?
The event will be hosted by Sew It All TV’s lovely Ellen March. Of the five finalists, the audience at the event will narrow it down to two. Then of those two, the final winner will be picked via internet vote.
If you are near the Puyallup, WA area (I think 40 minutes from Seattle), maybe you can make it! The event is on Sunday March 3 around noon during the Coats and Clark Charity Event benefitting the Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma, WA.
And meet my fellow finalists! I’m so honored to be among them. Do check out their blogs…they are amazing.

And notice they do a whole lot more sewing that I do! My last sewing tutorial was…I can’t even remember. I’m definitely more “crafty” lately. But, sewing is my first love, and maybe this opportunity, no matter how it turns out (no I’m not expecting to win) will get me sewing again.
So if things are a little bit quiet around here, I’m just working on this. I’ll be condensing my tutorial to five minutes, and figuring out, more importantly, what to wear! I am very, very, very nervous yet excited about all of this. I’m hoping that no one will figure out that I have never even done a video tutorial before. And please don’t tell anyone the last time I presented anything in front of an audience was probably like 10 years ago for my job. I was so not expecting this at all, yet I will be there in less than a month.
Will keep you posted on how I do! And please please let me know if you will be attending the event!
