School Spirit Hair Bows and Zutter Bow-It-All Giveaway

Each Friday, the girls’ elementary school has Spirit Day, where all students are encouraged to wear the school’s colors, blue and gold (or yellow), and the class that has the most kids wearing the colors get to host the school’s bear for a week. An easy way for your kiddo to celebrate her school’s colors is to wear hair accessories, and today I’ve made some using my Zutter Bow-It-All 2.0. My Bow-It-All 2.0 makes it so easy to create fancy bows in many sizes and even in two colors. You can also make basic bows and fancy bows with lots of loops. Pair them with hair clips and embellishments and you have some Rah Rah Yeah hair bows. Scroll down to win your own Bow-It-All and to see my fellow Blitsy Design Team Members’ bows as well (and enter to win on their blogs too!). **Giveaway is closed**

DIY Paper Magnolia Leaf Garland

I’ve always wanted a magnolia leaf garland for my mantle. But first, we actually had to have a mantle. We finally have a lovely mantle in our living room, thanks to my handy husband! Here’s how I made my Paper Magnolia Leaf Garland.

Christmas Treasure Map For Kids

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of BIC® for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

My Christmas Treasure Map is part of a fun indoor activity with my girls during their upcoming winter break. The color scheme for my map was inspired by my new BIC Mark-It™ permanent marker in #PlayfulPurple!

Christmas Treasure Hunt Map by The Silly Pearl

Supplies

  • BIC Mark-It™ permanent marker
  • Graph paper
  • Glittery cardstock
  • Colored cardstock
  • Pencil, ruler, scissors, paper trimmer
  • Adhesives – I used my Xyron 3-inch Sticker Maker and Xyron 9-inch Creative Station

My dad was an engineer and I loved to sneak his graph paper to draw out our house plans. It was just something that I really enjoyed doing, maybe because we had just moved into our home. So it was no surprise that my girls would love to do the same thing after two years of house hunting! I thought it would be fitting to draw out my map on graph paper and base the map on our house plans. First I drew out our house plans onto the graph paper with pencil, then I went over it with my BIC Mark-It™ permanent marker.

map 1

I wanted to add some shimmer for the holidays, so I cut out some little frames out of the glittery gold cardstock to fit just within the walls of all the rooms.

map 2

Then I drew in the clues for the treasure hunt, symbols and pictures of the little gifts I’ve gathered for them. I again used pencil first, and then used my marker over my drawings. I also made some individual drawings to use elsewhere, which I’ll show you in a moment.

map 3

I adhered the map to some purple cardstock and also made a little banner at the bottom to tell them to find their treasure!

map 4

Making sure my map stayed smooth on the cardstock, I folded the whole thing in half. I wanted to make the map like a greeting card to present to the girls. I added the individual drawings onto the front, and also added a banner with their names.

map 5

The last thing to do is to make tags for each of the gifts with the corresponding symbol on the map. Here, I’m giving them a mini gingerbread house kit, so that goes with the house symbol. I used the same cardstock, glitter, and graph paper to make the tag.

All done! Hope they enjoy their treasure hunt!

I love my new BIC Mark-It™ permanent markers. They come in 44 bold and bright colors (with cute names) and come in ultra-fine and fine tip sizes (I used a fine tip). There are also 8 metallic colors. The ink was low-odor, acid-free, and didn’t quit. Want more ideas inspirational ideas to make the holidays bright.? Head on over to BIC’s Month of Merry Marking to get the booklet of merry marking and a coupon to start marking with BIC Mark-It™ permanent markers.

And I know my crafty friends will love these markers too. I nominate my three hostesses at Project Inspire{d}: Mary Beth, Malia, and Diane to participate in BIC's Month of Merry Marking too!
